Currently in the Life and Times of Me...

Sometimes is is hard to find time to just stop and think. I keep a detailed calendar on the front of my fridge with every work assignment, every meeting, every social event and every workout. Yesterday, I looked at it and realized that I had something everyday. When was the last time I took a second and just appreciated the way my life is going? One goal for this year is to become a more positive and relaxed person ( total type A personality here) and that involves slowing down sometimes.  I decided to do a " Currently" post so that I could take the time to acknowledge what is going on in my life.
WATCHING //  Grey's Anatomy. I know I am like 5 years behind the times. The only reason I even watched it now is because A). My little sis  and my best friend are completely addicted/ obsessed/unhealthy attached to this show.  I also don't have cable B). I only have Netflixs and Hulu ( super cheap I don't even turn on my heat when it's freezing out) which has led to me watching every season of a ton of shows in massive marathons. I have a crush on Karave and love Hunt. When they sang Snow Patrol in their musical episode...I died.
LISTENING // I have been a long time fan of Snow Patrol but after seeing them in concert in November that love has turned into an obsession. I have found a new love for songs I use to pass over. I use them to stretch to after my workouts some of them are even on my running playlist. I am currently in love with Just Say Yes, Crack the Shutters, Run and Signal Fire. Signal Fire especially  has been blasted with my windows down recently.
The perfect words never crossed my mind,
Cause there was nothin' in there but you.
There you are standing right in front of me
There you are standing right in front of me
All this fear falls away to leave me naked,
Hold me close, cause I need you to guide me to safety.
- Signal Fire Snow Patrol

PLANNING // A vacation. Good grief I can not wait. I am also planning to be a tour guide in my city this weekend. Experiencing the city where you live from an outsiders view is incredible. It has made me fall in love with my town all over again.

THINKING ABOUT // Distance and if this is something I want to do. Only time will tell.
How much people's first impression of me has changed since I started working out. This past weekend I was told I was obviously a fit person and they could tell I love to workout....really me? Hello, do you not know that I just started running in June? Oh wait you don't because you only know the new me. I was also told my squats were beautiful the other day in the gym. Excuse me, but are you sure you are talking to this former fat girl? It's made me think about how much I've changed and if people are getting to know me or someone new....I don't know yet.

LOOKING FORWARD TO //  Girls Night on Friday. Skyping with Kari!!! Spending the weekend exploring Austin. Working out.

READING // Beautiful Creatures. I want to read it before I see the movie. I love Hunger Games, Twilight and HP so I figured I would love this as well. So far so good but I'm only on page 51.

MAKES ME HAPPY //

  • Squats
  • Snow Patrol
  • Sweet Potato Fries
  • Dark Chocolate with Almonds
  • Reading outside
  • Blue Skies
  • Breezes
  • 85 degrees in January
  • Meeting new people
  • New confidence
  • Smaller size jeans
  • Feeling attractive in workout clothes
  • New attitude

Loving this year so far.

I Already Feel Broke...

New year. New taxes.
It's a cruel cruel world when your paycheck goes down and your rent goes up.
I have till June to figure this out so I just had a mini heart attack not a huge heart attack where I died from the fear.
I need a roommate yall. It's that or I give up the gym membership and being social...which results in me being fat and alone. That is not an option!!
I'm trying not to stress but I hate feeling like I don't have money to spend and save. Key phrase being and save.
I literally yelled at a mini van for coming too close to my lane while driving yesterday. Not in by lane but too close to it...needless to say this week is a little stressful.
My dear Hanson loving friend sent me the link to the Hanson music video channel on youtube.
Changed my life. My work cubicle is now the happiest place ever.
Let me just ask you "Where's the love? It's not enough. It makes the world go round and round. Where's the love. Just give it up."
That's right world just give it up!!

New Year ...yada yada yada

First post of 2013.
It's a little late but it's better late than never.
I along with every other person in the universe have a list of ways to better myself this new year.
While I do believe in the power of goal setting and in being intentional I believe it is just as  important to look at how far you have come. It gives you the sustainability to reach your new goals.
I decided to not only look at what I wanted to change but what good habits I had developed in 2012 that I wanted to continue. Let's be honest 2012 was enough change to last an entire decade.
First new habit I want to keep is the fact that I have purposely worked on being less flakey. I use to be terrible at saying yeah I think I can come and then just not going...gold star friend there. Some how despite the lack of friend talent I was showing I managed to hold on to an amazing group of friends. I spent 2012 trying to be a better friend. I think I have improved. I think my word has become to have more of a value. If I say I am going to do something I at least try. I hope that they feel like more of a priority now. I want to continue trying to be a good friend because honestly I feel like it makes me a better person all around.

I have also gotten on a bit of a health kick. It's not even a health kick its a new me. I lost 47 lbs between May and December. I am freaking proud of that. Even more proud that I didn't gain it all back. My goals for 2013 are less of a weight goal although 15 -18 more lbs would be great. My goals are more to do a 10K, do a half marathon, become toned...be confident in a two piece. Be so confident in my two piece that that proof goes on Facebook. We all know if its not on Facebook it didn't happen. :)

I would also like to see my eating change to be more "clean". Everyone means something different when they say clean. My definition means that I am no longer depending on frozen meals for lunch and that I am eating less fast food. I would also love to kick my caffeine habit ( it is truly an addiction) but let's be honest...I don't think anyone could handle the bitch-fest that would result it.

I also have some professional goals as well as making new friends and trying new things...you know same old self improvement.

I decided to do Kassie's over at Southern Girl Gets Fit Red Bikni challenge. I needed something to make sure I didn't loss momentum.  My goal is to have such awesome legs like those of Ms. Noel over at Elle Noel ( check out her post from today...it's inspiring) that I don't have to wear a swim skirt. I can rock something like this

And so that I can go out downtown in something like this...and my thighs won't rub together ( nice image there, right?

I also decided to do a Valentine Blog Swap ... I know look at me being all involved in blog world.  I figured first single valentines in 5 years I better associate that day with something positive quickly before a cry fest and wine fest explodes everywhere.  Check it out over at Sealed With A Kiss!

That's more than enough for this entry.
